A Visit to the DUMBO Art Gallery

2) This another piece by Elisabeth Munro Smith entitled "Storm on the Prarie" (2010. This art piece is made of Basswood, bittersweet, cedar, gessoboard, and acrylic paint with a size of 36"x43"x5". This is another interpretation of place and land in which one can view forms of land through lines and shape.

3) This another Elisabeth Munro Smith art work entitled,"Very Yellow"(2010). This piece is made out of Basswood, bittersweet, paper, masonite, acrylic paint. Just like the other two works shown above, this is inspired by lands and places.

4) This is another artwork from Elisabeth Munro Smith entitled, "Deep Red and Burnt Orange" (2010). This piece is made from Basswood, crabapple, bittersweet, paper, gessoboard, and acrylic with the size of 18" x 24" x 5".

5) This artwork is created by Megan Biddle entitled "Warlord" (2009). It made of brown glass, magic sculpt, and mixed media and it's size is 8"x7x6". This artwork is one that I would like to know about because I am interested in knowing what inspired her to this piece and to form the materials that make this piece.

6) This artwork by Beatrice Wolert is entitled, "Repositioned" (2011). It is a collection of zippers placed on the board and this is also has inspired me because it is so astonishing to how an artist can use many zippers to create such a great artwork and how these zippers can attract one's eye through the color.

7) This artwork is another creation by Megan Biddle entitled "Untitled" (2010). This piece is made out of charcoal and ink with a size of 22"x30".

8) This is another artwork created by Beatrice Wolert entitled "Repositioned #9" (2011) (excuse my mother near the art piece). This work is also made from different colors of cloth and zippers. The size of this artwork is "9'11 x 9'6". I feel a connection with this painting because of the effort that was put in placing the amount of zippers to this board. I also feel a connection to how the line patterns symbolize a wave of colors combining together.

1) This art work, called "From Here to There" (2010), was created by Elisabeth Munro Smith. This art piece is made from basswood, bitterweet, cedar, Masonite, and acrylic paint. It's size is 29"x69"x11". The artist was inspired by place and land so interprets the patterns and designs in her work. Overall she uses this art piece to show an example of what one sees when viewing forms of land and what these lines and shapes mean to one.

9) This piece is taken by Meghan McInnis which is entitled "Elks Lodge" (2008). This is photo taken by a Digital C-Print. The size of the photo is 40" x 25. This scene is where punk shows are performed and was shot by the artist. She wanted the viewer to see how the culture of Punk music and art are connected.

  1. I think you choose some great pieces. I definitely got a sense of what kind of art you enjoy. I really like the pieces that used zippers. It is a unique material to work with.

  2. Different kind of art than i am drawn to, but yet very interesting. I also checked out the zipper’s art more. Reminds me of all the popular jewelry made with safety pins.
